MIT Alumni Depart from Industry's Hocus-Pocus, Emotionally-Driven Approach

DENVER, CO - Two Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) alumni have created Fair Advisors LLC, a Colorado-based company that will focus on helping investors put their financial portfolios in shape for the long term. Based on decades of experience in the financial services industry, unlikely partners Carol Fabbri, a former Merrill Lynch financial planner, speaker and advisor, and Michael Edesess, an economist, mathematician and author of "The Big Investment Lie - What Your Financial Advisor Doesn't Want You to Know," have concluded that investors are hurt by the mystery surrounding the industry. Says Fabbri, "Initially we avoided meeting since Michael had just published a book blasting my industry. Once we got past our reservations, we quickly realized we had similar philosophies, agreed on several ways to improve the industry for clients and decided to form the company."

Others work with professionals who choose to confuse their clients.  As Fabbri remarked in the December issue of Forbes Magazine, "Does your advisor lapse into buzzwords or suggest it's too complicated for you to understand?
